Palms: Music to Make Whoopie To

Is it just me, or have Chino Moreno's bands been getting progressively sexier?

Moreno started out in Deftones. This band has been getting progressively sexier beginning with "Digital Bath" and continuing through "Sextape" and the music video for "You've Seen the Butcher." Moreno then released an album with Team Sleep and years later formed Crosses. The latter of which wrote songs seemingly about sex, like "Bermuda Locket".

Ultimately, my point is that Moreno is basically the new Barry White. And this couldn't be more apparent than listening to the new song leaked from Moreno's new project: Palms.

I hesitate to mention that Palms also features three members of the legendary Isis: Jeff Caxide, Aaron Harris and Bryant Clifford Meyer. This is usually in the first sentence of every article about this band, but doing so might play with your expectations. This really sounds nothing like Isis or even Red Sparowes, which both Caxide and Meyer have also performed in.

Even Palms is trying to distance themselves from this idea. Caxide said in an interview with Decibel, "I think a lot of people are expecting this to sound like Isis with Chino singing. That's not what this is, because that's not exciting."

Below is a leaked and unmastered version of Palms' new song "Tropics". Light some candles, play this song and invite your lady friend over. You're welcome.

(I say things like this and wonder why I'm single...)

Palms' self-titled album will be released on June 25 through Ipecac Records.
