Cover art for the compilation. I thought it was ugly at first, but now I'm thinking the babies in the womb are supposed to resemble the bands Nirvana has influenced, maybe? |
Because it's been in production for so long, and apparently delayed because of "extended delays and legal wrangling," some of the artists have disbanded or died in the 7 years it's taken to make the compilation.
It's pretty nostalgic for fans of 00's indie post-hardcore of the non-MTV/Warped Tour variety. The album features some of the last-known recorded material by Thursday, These Arms Are Snakes, Black Math Horseman and the late Jay Retard, who died in 2010.
Pygmy Lush (with members of Pg.99), who have been quiet for a few years now, and Daughters, who just played their first show in four years last September, will also make an appearance on the record in addition to newbies and shoegaze revivalists, Whirr.
Exclaim! posted something about this two days ago and I've been spinning These Arms Are Snakes and Thursday ever since. Meanwhile, the rest of the music community hasn't quite caught on to this little diamond in the rough -- thought I'd dust off this ol' blog and help get the word out there! You can absolutely expect to find me camping out in front of my local record store for this in two months to snag this.
